i say this a lot, but i think it really needs to be said again, maybe in all caps. LIFE IS NOT A STORY. life is not something that was created and manipulated by the gods, or some incredibly groundbreaking epic poet who will go on to define novel genres, and life doesn't have to make sense in a story-way. sometimes i think that when we were in our towers, we spent so much time imagining how life would be when we finally got out. thinking about how we were distressed damsels, or super beautiful against the sunset, or going to be some prize to some prince at the end of a quest. because we all know these stories, and they make sense. it's important to give that up. when we left out towers we gave up being these absent authors. BUT that doesn't mean we get demoted to supporting character. just because you're not an author doesn't mean you lose agency in your own life, okay? but remember that you can be part of things without losing yourself and you can love people without being their Love Interest and you can create art without having to distance yourself and you deserved to come down out of that tower not because it makes a good story, but because you JUST DO, okay? xxoo Penny

Wow. I... really needed to hear this. Okay. I've cracked my mirror. Side-to-side, and I won't keep half-looking out the window. I'm DONE being the silent weaver, just recording what I see. I am half sick of shadows. I am TOTALLY sick of shadows. And I do want to be loved.

This is so important.
Stories have unhappy endings. They try to wrap things up with a "happily ever after" but that's not good enough. I don't want an ending like that. I want to control my own life after the closing of the book.
